Car interiors can rise to dangerous temperatures

Even though, technically, summer has not arrived yet it has certainly felt like it.

One thing everyone should consider this time of year if you have children: never, ever forget to leave them in the car, even for a brief minute.

The inside of vehicles can heat up in a hurry, and the temperature can soar to well over 130 degrees inside. It doesn't take long for something serious to occur in the heat for a child.

Heat advisory conditions are expected to persist through Monday evening.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperature is expected. Prolonged exposure to this heat can be dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken.

Searing heat withering Mid-South

The entire Mid-South has been gripped by record breaking heat over the last several days and it appears the heat will hold tight.  There is one part of the forecast that should get better however.  I believe drier air is going to work into the area tomorrow.  This should keep the heat index below the danger level of 105 degrees.  It will still be hot however, as the mercury soars toward the century mark.

Please continue to drink lots of water in the coming days as temperatures are going to remain well above normal for this time of year.

Kroger offers helping hand

Tuesday two 18-wheelers from Kroger arrived at the Mid-South Food Bank with more than $35,000 in food.  The store donated the food to help those suffering after the near historic floods ravaging the Mid-South in the past few weeks.  Kroger has already donated four truckloads of food to this area.  Store Representatives say their commitment to the Mid-South is strong.
