Riverwood Elementrary School students will participate in the 2012 Destination ImagiNation (D.I.) Global Finals May 23 through 26 in Knoxville.
The team, D.I. Nomite, competed in regional (first place) and state competitions (second place), to advance in the competition’s Elementary Division.
Riverwood Elementary is one of two elementary schools that will represent the state of Tennessee in this worldwide competition.
“The Destination ImagiNation Program allows students K-College to learn and experience the creative process. Quantitative reasoning, problem solving, risk taking, collaboration, presentations, and thinking on your feet are some of the important skills learned in the Program,” said Chuck Cadle, D.I. CEO.
More than 8,000 students representing more than 30 countries will participate in the 2012 Global Finals. This year’s competition will feature students participating in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), improv, theater and community service challenges.
Each year an estimated 125,000 students, ranging from elementary to college freshmen, participate in Destination ImagiNation regional, state and national competitions.
