D’Bo’s, the longtime Memphis restaurant chain, has some new bragging rights.

The national wing festival held in Buffalo, New York, this month judged the company’s dry rub wings “the best in the nation.”

That’s quite a compliment considering the fact that the Buffalo festival is considered the mecca of chicken wings. This year’s contest drew 71,000 attendees who were served 33 tons of wings. Most chicken wings are served covered in sauce, a cooking style know as “wet wings.” But instead of “wet,” David and Leticia Boyd, owners of D’Bo’s Inc,  brought some of their wings to the contest with Memphis Dry Rub Seasoning applied to them.

Feast on the food of five countries at one of the Mid-South's premier culinary schools and help put a budding chef through its curriculum.

L'Ecole Culinaire, 1245 N. Germantown Pkwy., will host The Taste of L'Ecole:  International Palette Friday, Aug. 12, from 6-10 p.m.

"We'll have five kitchens open, each featuring a different country:  India, Israel, Greece, Vietnam and Mexico," said Candice Baxter, L'Ecole Culinaire's spokesperson. "The Presentation Room Restaurant will offer a sushi display, as well as a silent auction featuring gift certificates from spas and restaurants in the area, personal cooking and ice carving services from our talented chef instructors, signed celebrity cookbooks and many other items.

"Also, we will raffle off a week-long culinary trip for two to Umbria, Italy (airfare excluded) for (an extra) $20 per ticket."
