156 pets have new home after 'Mega Adoptathon'

The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County hosted its 36-Hour Mega Adoptathon this weekend.

The final number of adoptions for the adoptathon presented by Hollywood Feed was 156. That includes HSMSC animals and animals from the participating rescue groups and shelters.

Over the next couple weeks, the HSMSC expects another 15 to 20 animals to have homes result from the adoptathon.

For various reasons, people may not have been able to finalize Saturday, such as landlord permission, having the current dog meet the adoptive dog, and checking vet records.

Every animal adopted from the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on its vaccinations.

Pet of the Week: Meet Miley

Action News 5's Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County is Miley. She was adopted Saturday.

She is 5 years old and has the energy of a puppy. Miley needs a good family to take care of her. She has knee problems, and needs someone to be responsible with giving her medication.

Miley does not get along with other dogs.

The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County is hosting its 36-Hour Mega Adoptathon this weekend, with adoption fees ranging from $0 to $36. Click here for more information.

Pet of the Week: Meet Edra

This week's Action News 5 Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County is Edra.

Edra is a black lab mix around 3 years old.

The Humane Society had to humanely trap her after she was wandering around an interstate.

She was found with mange and other health issues.

Now she is in great health. Also, she loves cats and dogs.
