Be prepared for a disaster by becoming CERT certified | Environment
Lakeland area residents are invited to become CERT trained at the Community Emergency Response Training classes for adults aged 55 and over. The classes are scheduled for each Wednesday in August through the 28th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the IH Clubhouse in Lakeland.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the City and trains them in basic disaster response skills so that they can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
Topics included in these courses are Intro to Disaster Preparation, Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical, and Search and Rescue. The City appreciates those who completed this training opportunity and are more prepared to assist other Lakeland residents in the event of a disaster.
