Tax scammers targeting church congregations

Tax scammers targeting church congregations

The IRS says scammers are targeting church congregations in the south. They’re promising big tax returns, but the con artists are the ones making off with all the money.

The crooks promise that if you pay them, they can get you a big check from the IRS. They say you'll get that money without providing any documents and it doesn't matter how little money you make.

But of course it doesn't work out as advertised.

Investigators say Jones gave them several fake names before finally admitting to his true identity.

The Safe Streets Task Force is a special unit comprised of various local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Police looking for armed shoplifting gang

Memphis police are on the hunt for a violent group who has robbed three stores in as many months.

Investigators say two men were inside the Macy’s at the Wolfchase Galleria on April 30, when they were seen stuffing merchandise into garbage bags. Officers say when security guards tried to stop the pair, one of the men pulled a pistol out and fired a single shot at the guards.

Fortunately no one was injured, but the thieves were able to escape in a blue sedan.
