Memphis City Schools Career, College Expo 2011

Memphis City Schools is hosting its 3rd annual Career and College EXPO, Feb. 9 through 11 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Cook Convention Center. The Expo will give students the opportunity to interact with potential employers and college recruiters.

During the Expo students can receive information about job interviews, apprenticeships, college placement, career opportunities, financial aid assistance and summer job placement.

The new Motor Vehicle Inspection Station on Appling City Cv. is actually a pleasure to visit.

There are six lanes that wrap around the station making waiting in line short and sweet. Another nice thing about this new location is the art. Along the drive from the entrance of the property to the exit there are numerous pieces of art from Carol DeForest.

Touted as the fastest selling concert in the history of Hope Church, the Christian rock group, Thirdy Day is set to perform at Hope Presbyterian; Thursday, April 14.

Tenth Avenue North and Trevor Morgan are also slated to perform.

Harding Students to perform in All West Band, Orchestra

Congratulations to the students who auditioned and were selected for the All-West Honor Band and Orchestra. The students are in a clinic next week which will culminate into performances over the weekend.

The All-West Orchestra will perform on Friday evening, Feb. 4 and the All-West Band will perform on Saturday morning, Feb. 5 at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.

Aaron Shelton was arrested Sunday for hiding drugs in a potato chip bag and passing them to her inmate boyfriend.

Hundreds of runners and walkers got their first look at the spacious new Anchor Center on the campus of Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal School on Saturday, January 22, 2011. The beautiful new gym and fellowship hall served as home base for registrants and refreshments at an annual 5K run-walk that is close to the hearts of many.  Outside the new center at Peabody and LeMaster, 516 hearty souls lined up in 29 degree weather for the 6th annual Lisa Lassendrello Rememberance Race. The beloved administrator at Grace St. Luke's Espiscopal School passed away in 2004 after a year long
battle with cancer. A native Memphian and avid runner, Lisa devoted 19 years of her professional life to GSL, the school where her daughters Jenny, Kate and Jamie attended and her husband, Jim "Coach Lass" Lassendrello served 20 years as athletic director.   Upon graduation from GSL, Lisa and Jim's daughters attended high school at St.
